Register and win a car, house, motorcycle boat etc. How does that work?

We all know all those sites where you can win great prizes like cars or scooters etc. Does anyone knows how this works in general. Who is paying for these goods and does this only work with big sites or can newly started sites also profit such benefits??? Are there things to be aware off??? Marc

1. when you see those pop-ups that say register to win a car, those sites have numerous sponsors. when you click to enter you have to submit your personal information and in the fine print it often notes that you have to complete a series of forms with the sponsors. you have to sign up for things to buy from the sponsors and once you buy enough then they put you into the contest. they probably also sell your personal info so you spam email till the end of time. its a giant scam. nothing is free.
2. The state that you're in generally will have laws that cover promotions and what you can and cannot state in advertising text and the offers. As for who pays depends on what the site is, the purpose of the site, etc.

4. One thing for sure is they are trying to get your mailing address or email address for bulk mailing.
